Throw a fabulous French Market-themed baby shower

There’s so much more to France than Paris! Harness the sophistication and elegance of France – the land of “joie de vivre” – by looking to its rustic countryside for inspiration. Then, harness the culture of the land of love with a très chic French Market-themed baby shower.

The decor
For French Market decor, think rustic and simple elegance. Table coverings can be gingham, toile print or burlap, depending on your preferences, but choose a simple color palette. If you decide to go neutral, spice things up with an abundance of big blossoms in one color as your centerpieces. One look we especially love is beautiful pink peonies spilling out of rustic wood boxes. Or, fill glass vases with straight white tulips, keeping them attached to their leaves for a stately look. Another cute idea is to hang coordinating bunting with twine with the word “bébé” on it.

The fare
French foods are so rich and delicious, you’ll have a hard time choosing your favorites to serve. Croissants are a must, whether you serve them with lox and cucumbers for brunch or chicken salad for lunch. But think outside the box and go for a savory pissaladiere – a flaky, mouthwatering French pastry. You can also serve mini quiches, brie and pears, baguettes with roquefort, camembert or other delicious French cheeses, or an array of yummy charcuterie and crackers. For dessert, your options are endless: madeleines, chocolate mousse, creme brulee, meringues or macaroons, to name a few.

Serve these French fancies on pretty little cake stands. Don’t forget the drinks – guests will adore cafe au lait, authentic French sodas and pink lemonade. You can serve the drinks in mason jars with candy-striped straws in any color to match your palette and add pretty personalized straw tags. Don’t forget custom napkins – you can even have them foil stamped with something sweet like “Bienvenue bébé!” to welcome the little one.

Throw the perfect French-themed baby shower by making it personal, elegant and sweet. Oo la la!
